Account
Your account holds who you are, your subscription, and the preferences that follow you across matters. This page covers signing in, the account dialog, and where each setting lives.
Signing in
Sign in with any of three methods:
- Google or Microsoft: one click with your existing account. Your name and profile picture carry over from the provider. Nodes-IP only accepts these when the provider confirms the account genuinely owns its email address, which protects your work from anyone claiming your address elsewhere. Personal Microsoft accounts (outlook.com, hotmail.com) usually cannot confirm this, so use email sign-in instead.
- Email: enter your address and Nodes-IP sends a 6-digit code. Type it on the confirmation page. The code expires after 10 minutes, and after too many wrong attempts you request a new one.
After signing in you land on the assistant home with no matter open. Access requires an active subscription; without one you are asked to contact us instead.
The account dialog
Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar to open the Account dialog. It has five parts:
- Profile. Your name, email address, and profile picture. Click your name to change how it appears across the app; leave it empty and you are shown as Account. Signing in with Google or Microsoft fills it in from that account the first time. Your email address and picture always come from your sign-in method and are not editable here.
- Subscription. Your plan and its status (Active, Trial, or Past due), with the relevant date: when the plan renews, when the trial ends, or when a cancelled plan stops.
- Export my data. Downloads everything on your account as one ZIP file, described below.
- Export party registry. Downloads every person and organisation in your party registry as one JSON file, including their snapshot history.
- Delete account… Permanently deletes your account and everything in it, described below.
- Sign out. Ends your session on this device.
Subscription
Nodes-IP is subscription-based, with trial periods available. There is no online checkout yet: to start or change a subscription, reach out through the contact page. The subscription card in the account dialog is a read-only summary of your current plan.
Settings
Open Settings from the gear icon in the sidebar. Settings are grouped into three categories:
- General. Appearance and search preferences: Theme (dark, light, or system), Reading width for the main content column, and Results per page for prior art search.
- Claims. Display conventions for the claims editor and the per-check diagnostics controls, explained in Claims.
- AI. The assistant's model and reasoning effort, explained in Assistant, plus your daily AI usage.
Where each setting applies
- Theme is stored per device, so your office machine and laptop can differ.
- Everything else is stored on your account and applies wherever you sign in, in every matter.
Daily AI usage
Settings → AI shows a meter of today's AI usage as a percentage of your daily allowance. Assistant conversations and AI-drafted edits count toward it, and so do figures the assistant draws: once drawings have cost something, the meter shows them in a second colour, with a key under it splitting the percentage between text and drawings. When you reach the limit, AI features pause until the allowance resets and the meter shows how long that is; the rest of the app keeps working. The allowance resets every day.
Export my data
Click Export my data in the account dialog to get everything on your account as one ZIP file. It contains:
- A
mattersfolder with one subfolder per matter, each identical to that matter's own download ZIP: applications as.docx, sources in their original format, figures as PNGs, and amatter.jsonwith the rest. - An account file with your profile, settings, global assistant conversations (the ones you had with no matter open), the assistant's memory of you, your party list, your billing and subscription status, your AI usage, and your access log.
- Your profile picture, if you have one.
Building the ZIP can take a while on an account with many matters; the button shows a spinner while it works. If a matter's source file, figure, or drawing sheet, or your profile picture, cannot be fetched, the ZIP still saves and a notice lists what was left out, so nothing goes missing without your knowledge.
Use this for portability, or to answer a data subject access request about your own account. It only ever covers your own data, never anyone else's.
Delete account
Click Delete account… in the account dialog to permanently delete your account: every matter, application, claim, drawing, source file, your assistant history, your party list, and your settings. Your subscription ends immediately. There is no grace period and no recovery once confirmed.
Type your email address to confirm; the button only enables once it matches. The dialog offers Export my data first so you have a copy before deleting, but it is a nudge, not a requirement, so a failed or skipped export does not block deletion. Once confirmed you are signed out and returned to the Nodes-IP homepage. Backups, invoices and the access log are retained as described in our privacy policy.
